The Tiber River |
|
It's the Hotel Delle Nazione but most of the "one" is obstructed by another building. |
A sea of scooters outside the mall. You can kind of see the "scooter suit" on the one in the front/center. It attaches to the scooter and keeps the seat dry in the rain while it's parked and then the rider sits beneath it to keep dry when on-the-go. |
"Pimp My Scooter" |
It was a wee bit wet walking around Rome that first day. |
(See the rainbow in the fountain?) |
Serendipity took us for a ride on the 115 bus* which gave us some
great views of the city. |

One of those domes is St. Peter's Basilica ... |
... and the other dome is San Carlo al Corso. |
The statues on top of what the locals call ... |
... the typewriter. It's a national monument to Vittorio Emmanuele |
These round sculptures seemed to pop up in the oddest places. |
You had to know there would be dogs! |
A two-fer! (Or is that a two-fur?) |
These dogs were locked inside the shop at night and they were NOT happy when people walked by. |
This pup reminded me of Super Falynn. |
Hooks on the side of the building to tether your dog's leash outside while you shop inside. |
Cane Parking in action with a surprisingly quiet Chihuahua. |
I know it's probably a matter of proximity (Germany being so much closer to Italy than to the United States) but it was just odd seeing a Mercedes Benz UPS truck! |
We passed Castel Sant Angel on the way to St. Peter's Basilica. |
But the morning we actually went there to poke around, they were closed for a union meeting. |
The Roman "Bikeshare" system. Apparently there is also a "CarShare" program one could join. |
A bicycle built for two ... er, four? No, it looks like there are six people on that contraption! |
A Smart car of some sort but super-spiffified. |
Protestors outside the Ministry of Finance building. |
St. Peter's Basilica - the ubiquitous Roman dome. |
Some sort of performance artist. (I admit - I didn't "get" it.) |
Walking down Vittorio Emmanuelle, for Abbey, of course! (The Irish Pub) |
And for Al - the British Pub. |
Interesting Lo-Jack device, no? |
